disaster relief & legal services

CTA DISASTER RELIEF FUND
The Disaster Relief Fund is a separate, special fund just for members of CTA. The fund is endowed to provide financial assistance to CTA members who have experienced significant losses due to natural and other disasters in California. The filing deadline is 12 months from the date of the incident.

DISASTER RELIEF ASSISTANCE
NEA Disaster Relief Program is implemented when the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) makes a declaration of a major disaster.

LEGAL SERVICES
As a CTA member you are eligible to participate in the CTA Group Legal Services Program (GLSP).

DEATH & DISMEMBERMENT (D&D) PLAN
The CTA Death and Dismemberment (D&D) Plan is an automatic benefit available to eligible CTA members at no additional cost. If an eligible CTA member dies or suffers a dismemberment (i.e., suffers a loss of limb or other qualifying injury), member or her/his beneficiary(ies) will receive a lump-sum cash payment.

LIFE INSURANCE
The free NEA Complimentary Life Insurance pays benefits if an eligible NEA/CTA member dies or becomes dismembered.

AUTO & HOME INSURANCE

GROUP LIFE INSURANCE

Voluntary disability insurance pays you when you cannot work due to a covered illness, injury, pregnancy or childbirth.

CTA offers employer-paid Disability and Life Insurance that can cover all of your district’s employees. Offered through Standard Insurance Company, these plans contain a range of features and benefits and can be customized to meet your districts’ needs.

EDUCATORS EMPLOYMENT LIABILITY (EEL)
Every CTA member receives coverage for legal defense costs in lawsuits arising out of his or her educational employment activities.

LONG-TERM CARE PROGRAM
Long-term care is the help or supervision provided for someone with severe cognitive impairment or the inability to perform the activities of daily living: bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, transferring, and continence. Services may be provided at home or in a facility—and care may be provided by a professional or informal caregiver, such as a friend or family member.

MEMBERSHIP CARD*

Membership cards are imprinted with member’s name, membership ID, local affiliate name. Membership Cards will be direct mailed to all members.

Continuing and new members processed prior to July 1st will receive their membership card with the August/September issue of the California Educator magazine. Cards for new members processed after July 1 will be direct mailed to the primary address every other week starting October.
